Thematic Sessions

We welcome a range of abstracts and mini-symposia covering various aspects of palm biology, taxonomy, conservation, and horticulture:

Biogeography, macroecology and macroevolution
Ecology and ecophysiology
Plant-animal interactions
Systematics, phylogenetics, and evolution
Uses and conservation
Palms in the human landscape

Mini Symposia

We invite proposals for mini-symposia to be featured at this edition of the conference. Mini-symposia allows for specific topics to be explored in greater depth, with the aim of fostering collaboration and communication among researchers with shared interests. Each mini-symposium should include a series of coordinated talks centred around an unifying topic.

We welcome ideas from all areas relevant to the conference (see Thematic sessions above) and encourage submissions that highlight emerging research directions or interdisciplinary topics.

Presentation Types

Regular oral presentations. For both contributed talks and talks in mini-symposia, talks will be up to 15 minutes each, followed by time for questions (~5mins). Time limits will be strictly enforced to keep the program on schedule.

Short talks are oral presentations that are up to 5 minutes each, followed by 2 minutes for questions. Time limits will be strictly enforced to keep the program on schedule.

Posters should summarise key research findings via a concise visual medium, and must be accompanied by a brief verbal explanation during allocated sessions. It should be prepared on A1 size portrait.
